Guided Discovery: Gearbox Slipping
Engine revving but the car isn’t moving?
Let’s sort out your gearbox
Slipping, jerking or delayed gear changes don’t always mean a new gearbox. Very often the problem starts with the fluid.
You press the accelerator, the revs shoot up, but the car barely picks up speed. Or there is a pause when you select Drive, a thump as it changes gear, or a shudder as you pull away. These are the classic signs of a slipping gearbox, and they understandably make drivers nervous. Gearbox repairs are among the most expensive on any car.
Before fearing the worst, know this: in an automatic or CVT gearbox, the fluid does far more than lubricate. It transmits power, works the gear changes and keeps everything cool. When the fluid is low, worn out or the wrong type, the gearbox simply cannot grip properly, and it slips.
So the first step is often the simplest: restore the right fluid. XADO then goes further, rebuilding the worn metal parts inside the gearbox so it changes smoothly, quietly and reliably again.
