European engines are precise machines, and they are particular about their oil. The numbers 504 and 507 in the name are Volkswagen’s own standards, the ones your handbook asks for. How to use

Check your owner’s handbook for how much oil your engine holds. Four-cylinder engines usually take 4 to 5.5 litres and six-cylinder engines 6 to 8 litres, so combine 4-litre and 1-litre cans to suit.

Warm the engine for a few minutes, switch it off, then drain the old oil and fit a new oil filter. Pour in XADO 5W-30 504/507 Red Boost and check the level on the dipstick or the dashboard display. Run the engine for a minute, switch off, wait, and check again.

For a cleaner start, use XADO VitaFlush in the old oil before draining it.
