XADO 85W-140 GL-5 LSD is a heavy-duty mineral gear oil for axles and differentials, including limited-slip differentials. It carries Revitalizant, our technology that protects and restores the metal surfaces of the gears while the vehicle works.

Everything a vehicle carries ends up resting on its axles. Seven tonnes of sand, a loaded trailer, a full bus, a Land Cruiser packed for a week in the bush. All of that weight, and all of the engine’s pulling power, passes through one set of gears in the differential. Under a heavy load on a long, hot road, a thin oil is squeezed out from between the gear teeth, and that is when the damage is done.

This is the thickest gear oil we sell, made for exactly those conditions. It stays between the teeth under extreme pressure and high temperature, giving the highest level of protection to final drives and differentials of every type.

The letters LSD matter too. A limited-slip differential has clutches inside it, and with the wrong oil they grab and release in jerks, which you feel as a shudder or hear as a groan on tight corners. This oil lets them engage smoothly.

Revitalizant completes the job, building a ceramic-metal layer on the gear teeth so the axle keeps working quietly, load after load.

Every can we sell comes directly from XADO and arrives sealed. Axle oil changes are awkward without a lift, so many customers have theirs done at our Nairobi service centre.

How to use

Check your owner’s handbook for the grade and how much oil the axle holds. A pickup differential takes about 2 to 3 litres. Truck axles take much more, so buy enough 1-litre cans for the job.

With the vehicle level and the oil warm, remove the filler plug first, then the drain plug, and let the old oil drain fully. Refit the drain plug and fill with XADO 85W-140 until the oil reaches the bottom of the filler hole. Refit the filler plug.
