XADO CVT Red Boost is a synthetic fluid made specifically for CVT gearboxes. It carries Revitalizant, our technology that makes up for wear on the working parts of the gearbox while you drive.
CVT gearboxes have a mixed reputation in Kenya. Everyone knows someone whose CVT started to shudder, whine or hesitate, and who then faced a very large repair bill. What is less well known is how often the cause is the fluid: the wrong type, or the right type left in for far too long.
A CVT has no fixed gears. It uses a steel belt running between two pulleys, and the fluid has to do two opposite things at once. It must lubricate the bearings and gears, yet let the belt grip the pulleys firmly without slipping. Only a dedicated CVT fluid can do both. Ordinary automatic transmission fluid cannot, and will damage the gearbox.
This fluid is built for that job, and it is particularly suited to CVTs with a flexible metal belt, the type found in most Japanese cars. It resists vibration, does not foam and stands up to heat and ageing. Revitalizant then compensates for ongoing wear on the belt, pulleys, gears and bearings, giving the gearbox the best chance of a long and trouble-free life.
Why drivers choose it
It is a dedicated CVT fluid, designed for the way these gearboxes work. It gives the highest degree of reliability and the longest service life for the gearbox. It makes up for wear on the belt, pulleys, gears and bearings. It damps vibration and prevents foaming and corrosion. And one fluid covers the CVT standards of Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Subaru, Mitsubishi, Suzuki and more.
Made for cars like yours
- Toyota: Fielder, Axio, Vitz, Passo, Ractis, Wish, Premio, Allion, Noah and Voxy with CVT gearboxes that specify CVT Fluid TC or FE.
- Nissan: Note, Tiida, March, Sylphy, Juke, Dualis, X-Trail and Serena with CVT gearboxes that specify NS-1, NS-2 or NS-3.
- Honda: Fit, Freed, Stream and other CVT models that specify HMMF or HCF-2.
- Subaru: Forester, Outback, Legacy, Impreza, XV and Levorg with the Lineartronic CVT.
- Mitsubishi: Outlander, RVR and Lancer with CVT gearboxes that specify CVTF J1 or J4.
- Also Suzuki and Daihatsu CVT models.
Please check before you buy. This fluid is only for CVT gearboxes. Conventional automatics need XADO ATF III/IV/V or ATF VI+, and hybrid and dual-clutch gearboxes need their own fluids. Tell our specialists your make, model and year, and they will confirm the right one.
Genuine XADO, straight from the source
Every can we sell comes directly from XADO and arrives sealed. CVT fluid levels have to be set precisely, often at a specific temperature, so we recommend having the change done at our Nairobi service centre.
A CVT rebuild costs a small fortune. A fluid change costs a few litres.
How to use
Check your owner’s handbook for the CVT fluid type and quantity. A simple drain and refill replaces about 3 to 5 litres. A CVT holds 7 to 9 litres in total, so some workshops repeat the drain and refill to replace more of the old fluid.
Drain the old fluid with the gearbox warm, refit the drain plug with a new washer, and refill with XADO CVT. Start the engine, move the selector slowly through every position, then check the level exactly as your handbook describes. Many CVTs have no dipstick and need the level set at a specific temperature, which is a job for a workshop.
Never mix CVT fluid with ordinary automatic transmission fluid.
