XADO Revitalizant EX120 for Manual Gearboxes is a treatment that restores and protects the gears, bearings and synchronisers in manual gearboxes, transfer cases and differentials. You add it to the gear oil and drive as normal.

A good manual gearbox is a pleasure to use. The lever slides from gear to gear with a light, precise click, and you hardly think about it. You notice only when that feeling goes. The lever starts to resist. Second gear needs a firmer push, or a pause, or it grates. The change that used to be a flick of the wrist becomes a small effort every time.

What you are feeling is wear inside the box. The synchronisers, which match the speed of the gears so they can slide together, have lost their bite. The gear teeth are pitted and scratched where they meet, and the bearings have loosened. All of it adds friction too, and friction in the drivetrain is engine power turned into heat instead of movement.

EX120 works on those surfaces directly. Revitalizant forms a ceramic-metal coating on the gears, shafts, bearings and synchronisers, filling in the pits and scratches and restoring the shape of the parts.

The noise fades first, from the first kilometres. Then the gear change sharpens as the synchronisers recover. With less friction, less fuel is wasted, a saving that shows most in four-wheel-drive vehicles, which have several sets of gears to turn.

A fair word of caution: Revitalizant restores worn surfaces. It cannot repair a broken gear tooth or a failed bearing. If the gearbox is jumping out of gear or knocking heavily, have it inspected.

How to use

Choose the number of syringes by how much oil the unit holds: one syringe for 1 to 2 litres, two for 2 to 5 litres, and three for 5 to 8 litres. Most car gearboxes need two. Most differentials need one.

Drive the vehicle first so the unit is at its normal working temperature. Remove the filler plug, or the dipstick where there is one, and squeeze the syringes into the gearbox, transfer case or axle. Refit the plug and drive as normal.

The treatment is complete after 1,500 km or 50 hours of operation. It is compatible with all types of oil for manual transmissions.

If the improvement stops partway, the unit is heavily worn, and XADO recommends doubling the dose. If nothing has improved after 100 to 200 km, the fault probably lies elsewhere, so have the vehicle checked.
