XADO Revitalizant EX120 for Power Steering is a treatment that restores and protects the pump and working parts of a hydraulic power steering system. You mix one small syringe into the power steering fluid. It also suits other hydraulic equipment.

You hear it most in a car park. You turn the wheel to squeeze into a space, and from under the bonnet comes a groan or a whine that rises as you turn. The wheel feels heavier than it used to, especially when the car is barely moving, and sometimes it pulses slightly in your hands.

That sound comes from the power steering pump. It is a small, hard-working part that pressurises the fluid which does the heavy lifting when you steer. Inside, its parts are finished to very fine tolerances, and as they wear, fluid slips past them and the pump can no longer hold its pressure. It complains loudly and helps you less. Left alone, it fails, and a replacement pump or steering rack is an expensive repair.

EX120 treats the wear itself. Carried by the fluid, Revitalizant forms a protective ceramic-metal coating on the surfaces of the pump, the steering valves and the other moving parts, closing the gaps that let pressure escape.

A fair word of caution: Revitalizant restores worn metal parts. It cannot fix a leaking hose or seal, a slipping belt or a broken pump. If the fluid level keeps dropping, have the leak repaired first. Many newer cars have electric power steering with no fluid at all, and this product is not for them. How to use

Check the fluid first. If it is dirty, cloudy or discoloured, if it has been in the system for more than 40,000 km or three years, or if you do not know its age, change the fluid and drive at least 200 km before treating.

Choose the number of syringes by how much fluid the system holds: one syringe for 1 to 2 litres, two for 2 to 5 litres, and three for 5 to 8 litres. Most cars need one.

Draw off 30 to 50 ml of the power steering fluid into a clean container. The fluid should be warm, at least 35°C. Squeeze the syringe into it and mix until it dissolves.

With the system at its normal working temperature, pour the mixture back into the power steering fluid reservoir. Start the engine and let it idle for 5 minutes. Then drive as normal.
